Welcome to my website!

I am a senior researcher at the Federal Institute for Research on Building, Urban Affairs and Spatial Development and a doctoral candidate in sociology at the University of Cologne and the Max Planck Institute for the Study of Societies.

My research interests include economic sociology, labor markets, higher education, science studies, and social stratification. While my projects at the Federal Institute investigate the living conditions in Germany’s three lignite-mining regions, my dissertation examines the formation of career aspirations in business schools. Most recently, I published an edited collection of campus ethnographies, titled Ethnografie der Hochschule.

In the past, I worked at the Institute for Employment Research (IAB), the Institute of Economic and Social Research (WSI), and the Max Planck Institute of Economics. From 2009 to 2016, I studied socio-economics (B.A.) and sociology (M.A.) in Nuremberg, Jena, Berkeley, and Dublin, funded by the Hans Böckler Foundation and the German Academic Exchange Service. During Spring 2019, I was a visiting scholar at Columbia University in New York.

I tweet and toot under @d4meyer.
